We need Canvassers and Phone Bankers for Sharon Bulova's Campaign Sharon Bulova needs a big Get Out The Vote (GOTV) effort on Obama's coattails. Remember we are only talking to Democrats. They won't consider voting Republican, but might not remember to vote or won't think it is an important election. Connect the importance of electing a Democratic chair of the county board of supervisors to our big win with Obama: OBAMA FOR THE NATION, BULOVA FOR OUR FAIRFAX NEIGHBORHOODS. 1. Virginia Democrats won a great victory in November by turning VA blue for Obama and electing Gerry Connolly to a formerly Republican Congressional seat. 2. Now as Connolly moves to Congress, we need to make sure that Fairfax County stays blue with the election of Democrat Sharon Bulova as chair of the county board of supervisors. When former board of supervisor's chair, Republican Tom Davis was elected to Congress in 1994, Democrats turned out big time in the February special election to elect Democrat Kate Hanley to fill Davis' seat as board chair. If we don't work hard, the Republicans will do the same thing to us this year. 3. The Republicans would love to capture this seat. They have nominated Pat Herrity, the son of the late John F. Herrity, who was a colorful pro-growth Republican chair of the county board of supervisors for 12 years in the 1970s and 1980s. Pat Herrity has little political or governing experience. Pat Herrity was just elected to the Board of supervisors last year. He is one of two Republicans on the board of nine members. He has proven to be a conservative who refuses to compromise to get the work done. Sharon Bulova has more than 20 years experience on the board and was the chair of the budget committee in the 1990s. She is highly qualified to continue Fairfax County's excellent governance. 4. The special election Feb. 3 will be won by the party that gets out the most voters. Only a small percentage of voters turn out in a special election, so your vote will really make a difference. This may seem like an insignificant election, but the outcome will affect all of our lives in Fairfax County. If you voted for Obama, you need to follow up by voting for your local Democrats who can work with Obama at all levels. 5. Don't forget to VOTE DEMOCRATIC Feb 3. Absentee Ballot information - 6.
