 News came to us today, that a true friend and progressive stalworth of our community has passed away.  Senator Joseph V. Gartlan, who represented the Virginia 36th senatorial seat from 1972 to 2000.

Many of our Mt. Vernon family has known and worked with Joe over the past several decades and are saddened with his passing.  Funeral arrangements and memorials information is being arranged and will be communicated as soon as available.
