We have been blessed this year with many opportunities and experiences in our neighborhood in being part of an amazing movement. From the cold February primaries, to the star studded events. Mt. Vernon Democrats have experienced great pride and joy in the process of being engaged citizens by supporting and electing leaders which represent us.
Please take a moment and share your campaign / election stories.

Subject: Reflections on a Blue Virginia
Southern Fairfax Agents of Change,
I wanted to take a week to decompress before I wrote anything to any of you. I still don't have my head quite wrapped around the situation. I don't know that I ever will.
But before the champagne goes flat and the ringing reco bell fades into the sounds of Vinito baking a fresh pizza and Aaron selling the newest boudoir, I wanted to express my boundless gratitude for everything you provided me over the past two months.
For two months I lived in a very small world between Doug Reimel's Staging Location and the SoFa hub. In reality, that world extended to the nether reaches of Stratford Landing to the north and Belvoir to the south. 8 precincts. 1 cause. You and the countless callers, canvassers, caregivers, and packet paramilitaries were the denizens of said world. I rode on bike and shotgun in Nathania, Zach, and Chris's car. I sustained on lasagna, fried chicken, donuts, bottled water, coffee, and love. I thrived on energy physical, spiritual, and emotional borrowed from volunteers. Every smile, every volunteer shift scheduled, every door knocked on, every person called lifted me up just a little. You gave all that you had, and that was more than enough to keep me going.
To McGowan: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do the greatest thing I've ever done and to be a part of this special team.
To Doug, Janet, Laura S., Paul, Jay, Lisa and Jenny: thank you for taking me into your homes and your hearts and treating me as family. To be perfectly honest, I felt more at home in 2 months in Alexandria than I have in 5 years in NYC. Real Virginia is lucky to have you.
To Mike Lamb, Rosa, and Nathania: thank you for endless inspiration, motivation, passion, and insight.
To the Deputies: thank you for donating your lives to a cause. Few in the country will ever have the fortitude to serve the country in the way that you did. If your experience was half as special as mine was, you were more than compensated for your duty.
To Charles, Jim, Joe, and Mike Sozan: Thank you for life lessons, guidance, and the reminder that role models exist all around us and that public servants are indeed in our midst.
I wanted to leave you all with a gift. I'm sure friends and relatives have reached out to thank you, congratulate you, and/or buy a drink for you. However, I wanted to bolster those actions by sharing with you the poetry of text messages I received on the night of November 4th. While these were all addressed to me, the sentiments contained therein are directed to all of you:
Mohan: Congrats bro. Your state just helped carry the movement. We need to celebrate next week!

With all the Love, Gratitude, and Admiration in the World, Nick DiCarlo
